Dream World : Fantasy of fun & adventure

Farizaa Sabreen

Back from Thailand

Dream World is nestled in Pathumthani near Future Park Rangsit of Thailand. It offers excitement enough for an entire day of action packed family fun. Whether you're in the mood for blazing around the corners of one of go-cart tracks, splashing and bumping friends in super splash, or picking the coolest place by going through snow town, the Dream World has a great day awaiting your arrival!

"We are proud of our beautiful park, and we take pride in keeping it clean, and in making it a safe, fun place to bring your children. We are here to offer any assistance you may need while visiting the Park. We work together to make the park a fun and happy place for children to come and play, and for adults to relax and enjoy watching them", said Patty, one park attendant.

Walkways are available to allow easy access throughout the park. Seating areas are available where families and friends can share a meal. In the center of the park you will find an area with tables and umbrella's that will shade you while you are eating or resting. There are drink machines available in that area. Bathroom facilities are located in the Park.

Some of the attractions you will find in the park are: sky coaster, vikings, go cart, super splash, speedy mouse, snow town, grand canyon, flying carpet, antique car, cable car, speedy mouse, hurricane, bump boat, fairy tale lands, haunted mansion, etc.

Jump on the sky coaster for an exciting ride that you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Dream World also has a large section devoted to the young ones with a large collection of new and classic Kiddie Rides.

In the dead heat of summer, the garden along with Dream World makes the park a cool summer destination.

The park is clean and nicely landscaped, and includes several shaded picnic areas, lots of flowerbeds, trees, shrubs, and bushes; this makes walking around the park a real pleasure, and you don't have far to walk between attractions.

Snow Land is a display of artificial snow. Penguin, polar beer, reindeer, snowman and igloo are inside the snow land. The temperature inside is below zero. Try their ice giant slide. The park also features a live 'Hollywood Action Show' which up until recently had a dubious display of Nazi Storm Troopers successfully invading an Allied camp. Many people are glad that the current focus has changed to a SWAT team invading a criminal's den.

If you want to get wet then you should try Super Splash, and Grand Canyon. Meet children's favorite cartoon characters in the spectacular The Colors of the world Parade.

Exciting animal shows and human stunts can be seen also. You can go from one end to another by taking a cable car when you feel exhausted.

The gardens are really beautiful, laid out with the nicest array of flowers south of Chiang Mai. For lovers, there is the garden with heart shaped-heart things to have your photo taken under and romantic benches.

"Wonders of the World" is another attraction of Dream World. There is a mini Eiffel Tower, Angkor Wat, Egyptian Pyramid and even a Statue of Liberty. Two play areas designed just for kids allow small children to splash around to their hearts' content.

The undivided Bengal had played a pioneering role in the domain of sweets and confectionaries. It was the best of times for Bengal in the second half of the nineteenth century, and the height of the golden age of Bengal's resurgence. From fine arts to commerce, from culture to industry, from literature to science, in all things there was a glorious flowering of exuberant excellence. The spirit of this era touched the world of confectionary too. Taking inspiration from the era now Khazana presents 'Khazana Mithai,' created with the same passion for excellence that is the hallmark of its hospitality.

At the flagship store Khazana Mithai, superior ingredients will be used to prepare a whole range of traditional sweets (Bengali word Mishti), from Bengal in a hygienic state of the art kitchen. The varied offering of sweets will delight the taste buds of millions.

All wrapped in the distinct traditional warmth of Khazana hospitality.

Avishek Sinha, General Manager of Khazana, said, "We are going to cater to all corporate and social events since 'Mishti' is an integral part of our rich Bengali heritage."

"We always try to give something new to our clients and buyers. We believe in quality sweets. Few months ago, I thought to set up a sweet-store. Though in past time, Bangladesh has a rich tradition of various types of sweets. But recently here sweet-shops cannot provide quality sweets as customers demand. From this thought, we started a new sweet-shop along with our restaurant," said Avishek.

Khazana Mithai master Halwai chef Dudh Kumar Ghosh is in this profession for last 25 years. He had been involved as a professional, working with a premium property like Taj Bengal, a five-star deluxe hotel in Kolkata for more than a decade and had also showcased his culinary skills successfully including places like London.

"We have planning to expand our branches to Chittagong. In future, it will be happened. We ensure quality of sweets with real taste of sweets to our clients," said the GM of Khazana.

Potteries for containing sweets were made of ceramic. Eminent designer Mahin Khan designed these. All these were brought from Patuakhali. There was a speciality of these potteries that basement of potteries were flat though we have habituated to see half oval shaped potteries. Some of the specialities of Khazana Mithai are:

Motichur-ke-Laddu, Kaju Barfi, Badam Barfi, Rasmalai, Chamcham, Gulab Jamun, Kalakand, Chocolate Sandesh, Chanar Payesh and Sugar-free Sponge Rasogolla.

The price ranges of these sweets are from Tk 150 to Tk 700 per kg.

Solo Exhibition of Shahid Kabir

Farizaa Sabreen

From March 29 to April 10, 2008 The Gallery Chitrak, mount an exhibition of Shahid Kabir. The exhibition features every phase of artist's career and demonstrates the artist's mastery of diverse genres. It is the most comprehensive presentation of the artist's work in our country.

Eminent artist Mustofa Monowar inaugurated the exhibition, while Motiur Rahman, editor of The Daily Prothom Alo was the special guest. The inauguration ceremony was presided by architect Shamsul Wares.

He works with various media, like, egg tempara on board, water colour, mixed media, charcoal, etc. Since 1980, Shahid has been living and working as a freelance artist in Madrid, Spain.

The works with egg tempara are very striking. Bridge Kalijeera, a path of my childhood, Nargis(street queen), street boy, circus, couple, love, studio corner, river kalijeera, empty upon empty, sidr victim, dry flowers, brick field are excellent source on Tempara medium.

Deduction and addition of colours and seduction by emotions are spreaded in the domain of his paintings. He gives lives to inanimate objects, where the parade of beauties is carefully choreographed spectacle.

Controlled spontaneity, detail, and especially the role of backgrounds, are all integral to the show's erotic paintings couple and eternal love. Needless to say, they are fascinating.

His delicate patterns draw attention to the threshold between interior and exterior. The paintings of retired man, my brushes, lonely some, a path of my childhood, a weekold grapes and wartime are visual feasts that delight the eye and whet the appetite. Shahid revels in capturing the effects of the different textures of objects through his varied handling of paint. He also includes objects infused with symbolic implications, indicating that the viewer should reflect upon materialistic truths.

It's quite an impressive exhibition. Given that so many of these works have never been shown since acquisition, they look as vivid and fresh as if painted only yesterday.

Poetry

Free me!

Md. Ziaul Karim

Rain rain, come again

Free me from torture and pain

I mourn as the grace is gone

I fall down muddling and forlorn.

My breath is smothered

I am almost defeathered

Stumbling and trembling as a bird wingless

In the midst of horrific political meanness.

O You! Where are you?

Sit me freely on a bough

My nests are torn, my youngs shot

I know not what battles to be fought.

Let your grace fall from sky

Like hail turning into lethal shots

And rain water like steam-roller

That has the power to moulder.

A refurbished generation will emerge

Purified and purgated in grace.

No barrier will be there,

Everyone will share

Of humanity - a great boon

As none will be a political buffoon.

How much more would you gulp?

Shahidur Rahman Manik

O Bangalee, how much more would you gulp?

You suffered the treacherous acts of Mirjafar,

And you suffered also torments of British kicks.

Pakistan swallowed you bullets to death.

You could knock out the autocrat.

How much more would you gulp?

Better you kill democracy,

blend sauce of it with blood and backbone

of Nur Hussein

and put 'em all in your gulp.

You trumpeted the drum of rumour

You made someone the queen or the king.

When you did not like him or her

You played reversed record and sing

chanting opposite slogan:

Burn by fire - fire - burn by fire!

While you set on fire, you also extinguish it!

What amusement recreates you there?

Someone takes out the pulp of the fruit

While you get the peeled off skin of it!

That's the irony of fate

You remained happy with the peeled off skin

As if a chained goat of the cattle herd

that appears to be happy with husks in a pen.

O the herd of goats, why don't you understand

your own goodness?

Be united, shake hands.

Not to sing miscellaneous songs

But to sing only that song:

Let's love our country,

let's work for our country.

Otherwise

take everything in your gulp,

then sink and die.

· Bangalee, How much more would you gulp ?

· Gulp!

Tips to turn this your best ever

1. Ignore your problems (at least temporarily). When you pour a lethal combination of worry and fear-based actions into solving your problems, all you get are bigger problems. Set them aside for a few minutes, hours or even days (if possible). Turn your attention towards something that makes you feel as relaxed and happy as possible under the circumstances. You'll likely find that the perfect solution pops into your head when you had your back turned.

2. Look for the good in someone who's hiding it. No one wants to be hated, no matter how they may act. Celebrate whatever good you can find. Remember that anger is passion turned inside out. Help others focus on what they want, and chances are good they'll help you, too. While you're at it, look for the good in yourself. You can't see in another what you can't find in yourself.

3. Visualize it. Think before you act this year. Picture what you want in your mind with as many details as possible. Make it happen first in your thinking. Then start talking about it, so you can hear it "from the horse's mouth." Watch how much easier it is to make it come alive in your life when you do this. Be sure to fast-forward to the results you hope to achieve, so you can see how others benefit from your dreams, too.

4. Think fun! Work is hard. Play is fun. No matter what you want to accomplish, find a way to keep it light and interesting. Ask yourself: "What would be fun to try?" or "How could I make this more fun to do?"

5. Work together. You are unique, and so is everyone else. Each person brings skills, talents, experience and interests to a project that are unduplicated by any other person. Take the time to see how much bigger or better things could be when the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

6. Enjoy yourself. No matter what you're doing, enjoy it. If you don't, you're just killing off your own energy. Even if you're doing chores, remind yourself of the results you're getting by doing them. It's your life. Treasure it, or watch days, months and years go down the drain.

7. Pick a role. Time for a change? Pick a new character quality to try. How does a patient person act? What would a funny person think about this situation? Where would a responsible person go for help with a problem? Study movie characters or co-workers for hints and ideas.

8. Listen to your inner voice. Every answer you need for the rest of your life can be found within yourself. No one knows you like you do, and no one else can supply exactly what you need. Take time every day to get quiet and ask your inner self what to do. Follow your instincts.

9. Smile. Take every chance you can, every day, to smile. Not only will you be healthier, but you will also help others be healthier when they smile back, because when you smile, you release endorphins. The average American child smiles 400 times a day. The average American adult smiles less than 15. By smiling at the people and things you have drawn into your life, you bless them by your attention, and you both grow stronger.

10. Intend the best. Pause for a brief second before any meeting or encounter, and form a clear intention about how you want it to go. This technique quickly makes chaos and trouble disappear. Expect the best, and you'll get it.
