A huge fire broke out after a lightning struck an electric pole at Khanbag residential area of Uttar Badda in the city during the rain yesterday afternoon. No one was hart.

It took two hours for the members of the Fire service to bring the fire under control by sprinkling fire-control powder.

Titas Gas Pipe Line metre, which was located under the electric pole, ignited by the fire and intensified the blaze. At first the local people and firemen failed to bring the fire under control by pouring water.

Fire gutted goods worth Tk 50,000 of the nearby Parents General Store.
