Call to build corruption-free Bangladesh

BSS, Rangpur

The valiant freedom fighters have called upon the young generation to build a corruption and 'razakar'- free prosperous nation that the people and freedom fighters dreamt in 1971.

They made the call while they were being accorded special receptions by members of the 'Amra Eei Projonmer Santan', a juvenile organization of the town, in an exceptional manner during the past few days.

A group of 20 juveniles of the organization visited each house of the freedom fighters, accorded them receptions with flowers, sweets and messages of felicitation from the young generations on the eve of the country's 37th Independence Day.

They arranged the exceptional programme from March 21 to 26 to pay their profound respect to the valiant sons of the soil, who liberated the country through the nine-month bloody war in 1971 and project the true history of the War of Liberation.

Rehenuma Tabassum Jyoti, a second-year MBBS student of Rangpur Medical College, led the group and said they were born much later of the Great War of Liberation but they came to know from their parents how courageously the freedom fighters fought against the Pakistani forces to liberate Bangladesh.

"We firmly believe that the independence is the greatest achievement of the nation, freedom fighters are the most beloved sons of the soil and the young generation should do everything for upholding the spirit of the War of Liberation in fulfilling the dream of independence," Jyoti said while talking to each freedom fighter.

They also told the heroes of 1971 that the war criminals must be tried as per laws of the land and also in accordance with international laws for the worst inhuman crimes they committed during the War of Liberation.

The freedom fighters became very emotional while being accorded receptions in such an exceptional manner by the present generation, who urged them to remain united as they were in 1971 against the identified enemies of Bangladesh and reach the fruits of independence to every citizen.

"We never thought of getting such a honour and reception from the young generation after 37 years of the independence, which we brought at the cost of 30 lakh lives and dignity of 2.5 lakh mothers and sisters," veteran freedom fighters Abdul Mazid, Abdur Razzaque and Akhiruzzaman said.
