Independence Day observed in befitting manner in Gouripur, Narayanganj

The Independence Day was observed in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district in a befitting manner on March 26.

The beginning of the Independence Day started at zero hours of midnight with a 21-gun salute. AKM Ehasanul Haq. UNO of Goruipur upazila placed floral wreaths on the Shaheed Minar at Harun Park of the uapzila town.

Different socio-cultural and political organisations clubs, and Gouripur Press Club also placed floral wreaths.

In the morning, colourful rallies were brought out by different organisations which paraded through the main road of the town and joined Gouripur playground.

The national flag was hoisted by the UNO Gouripur upazila. In the afternoon different kinds of sports and games were held on the National Day. Besides, in the evening different clubs, organisations organised cultural programmes to mark the Independence day.

BSS from Narayanganj reprots People from all walks of life today celebrated the 38th Independence and National Day here in a befitting manner and with due respect to the Heroes of the War of Liberation.

The day's programmes were highlighted with placing wreaths, hoisting National Flag, holding Juvenile rally, providing improved diets in hospitals, orphanages and jail; reception to the family members of martyred and disabled Freedom Fighters, friendly football match, discussion, musical soiree and special prayer.

Different political parties placed wreaths at the Chashara Victory Monument, paying their rich tributes to the memory of the martyrs of the War of Liberation.

Leaders of Bangladesh Awami League district unit placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at its office on the occasion.

A juvenile rally was held at Chashara Osmany Stadium at 8 AM. Deputy Commissioner A.M.A. Rahman distributed crests among those who won the first, second and the third positions in different events of the rally. The Deputy Commissioner took salute from a combined marchpast joined by the Police, Fire Service, Ansar-VDP, BNCC, Scouts, Girl Guides, Rover Scouts and Muktijoddha Sangsad.

Narayanganj Islamic Society organised a blood donation programme at Shaheed Zia Hall at 10 AM.

BNS Tista was opened for the public at the BIWTA Ghat-5 in the river Shitalakhya at 1 PM.
