Gender sensitive governance for sustainable development stressed Our Correspondent, Barisal A two-day long communi-cation fair on 'gender sensitive governance' has been inaugurated at Barisal Aswani Kumar Hall on Sunday. The fair jointly organized by Barisal NGO Development Network and Steps Towards Development with assistance of Manusher Jonno and participating by 14 NGOs. Mahmud Hassan, assistant commissioner for land inaugurated the fair by flying the fair-souvenir and Anwar Zahid, president BNDN, presided over and Ranajit Dutta, secretary BNDN gave welcome address of the discussion on the fair motif. Prof.Syed Aminul Huq,educationists, Rabeya Khatun,Nurjahan Begum, women activist, Mahmud Al Kabir, health officer, Rashida Begum, women affairs officer, Farzana Naim and US Rokeya, officials of Manusher Jonne and Steps Towards Development, addressed the inaugural ceremony conducted by Shuvangkar Chakroborty. The discussants said that aim and object of the fair is making consciousness among all sectors of life and organs of the government about creating gender sensitive governance for sustainable development and democracy. Different items, modules, service equipment and systems presented in the stalls of the fair and cultural functions on regional traditional and folk songs and dances, dolls dance, puppet show performed and video film shows presented in the fair from 10-00am morning till 8-00pm night.
