Canada-Bangladesh co to invest $10.841m in AEPZ

Rashid Composite Textile Limited, a joint venture company between Canada and Bangladesh, will set up a knit composite garment manufacturing industry in the Adamjee Export Processing Zone.
This jointly owned company will invest US$10.841 million and will produce 375,000 dozens of Polo Shirt, T-Shirt, Knit Trouser and Children Wear items. The company will also create employment opportunity for 511 Bangladeshi nationals.
An agreement to this effect was signed between the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and the Rashid Composite Textile limited in BEPZA Complex, in the city on March 17 last.
General Manager (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA and Managing Director of Rashid Composite Textile Limited signed the lease agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
The Executive Chairman of BEPZA and other officials were present on the occasion.
Best Air planning to buy six Airbus aircraft

Best Air, the country's third private airliner, is likely to go for a deal with the company Airbus to procure six aircraft to stay in the competition as their rivals are moving ahead with their own plans.
'We're planning to procure two Airbus-330 aircraft and four Airbus-320 aircraft,' Best Air chairman M Haider Uzzaman said.
Best Air had a two-hour meeting with an Airbus team at its office Tuesday while the Airbus delegates gave a presentation on their aircraft.
'We've told them to submit a commercial proposal within the next two weeks and after that, if our board approves, we'll go for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),' Haider said.
But, he said, they would also receive proposals from the US-based Boeing. 'Strategically, we have an interest for Airbus due to availability of its spare parts and crew,' he added.
Best Aviation started its modest journey in 1999 as a helicopter operator and then started its operation as a freighter airliner in 2000.
Best Air obtained its licence in 2006 from the Civil Aviation Authority to operate Passenger Service on the international and domestic routes. The company started its passenger fleet with Boeing 737, which was the first in Bangladesh.
Krishi Bank board meeting held

The 453rd Board Meeting of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Krishi Bank was held in the Board Room of the bank on March 18 last. Khondkar Ibrahim Khaled, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank chaired the meeting. The Directors of the Board of Directors, Managing Director, Deputy Managing Directors, all the General Managers of Head Office, the Secretary of the Board of Directors and concerned Deputy General Managers were present on the occasion. Some important decisions on the various affairs of the bank were taken at the meeting.
Pubali Bank holds workshop on Flat Loan

A workshop, titled 'Flat Loan' was held recently at the head office with the participation of Consumers Credit Agents allover the country and 132 branch managers of Pubali Bank Limited.
They exchange views in the meeting regarding Flat Loan. Managing Director of Pubali Bank Limited Helal Ahmed Chowdhury was present as the chief guest while Md. Hafizur Rahman, Division Head of Consumers Credit Division presided over the workshop.
In his address, Helal Ahmed Chowdhury gave necessary guidelines to the Consumers Credit Agents. He said that Pubali Bank fixed the lowest rate of interest in flat loan at competitive market position and it appears to be the lowest in this sector. He said it is a dream of an individual to become the owner of a flat in his whole life and Pubali Bank is trying its best to fulfill the dream. The flat loan project reflects the social responsibility of Pubali Bank.
The Managing Director stressed on selecting potential borrowers and trying to enhance bank business.
He urged upon all the agents to keep close vigilance by intensive supervision and close monitoring of the loan so that disbursed loans might not become overdue or classified.
Agents of Consumers Credit exchanged their views with branch managers to enrich flat loan scheme and to expand business.

Nuvista Pharma holds training programme

Nuvista Pharma Limited organised training on 'Teambuilding and Leadership Skills' where mid level mangers attended. The training was conducted by BRIDDHI, where CEO and Managing Director Md Akbar Hassan of BRIDDHI was the chief resource person, a press release said.
It was inaugurated by Asif Ahmed, Director (Sales). He said 'Training brings development of skills where it needs to be practiced.'
Video clips were shown on successful professionals of Bangladesh in the field of pharmaceuticals. Three whole days training program started on March 3 and ended on March 5. Certificate was distributed by Akhter Matin Chaudhury, Managing Director of Nuvista Pharma Limited.
In his speech he emphasised training where he said "you can achieve your goal by utilising the knowledge and experiences you gathered from this training program," the press release added.

Etihad Airways cancels Abu Dhabi bound flight on March 31
The national airline of the United Arab Emirates- Etihad Airways is going to launch an extended summer flight schedule. Due to few changes, the scheduled flight EY 253 on March 31, 2008 bound for Abu Dhabi will be cancelled.
All the valued passengers who have already purchased their tickets on that particular date are requested to change the flight schedule from Etihad office.
Etihad Airways expresses its sincere apology for the inconvenience caused due to the change in schedule.
