Bangladesh, Turkey share many commonalities

UNB, Dhaka

Foreign Advisor Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury and Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan met on the margins of the OIC meeting here discussing greater cooperation between the two countries.

They agreed that in December a Joint Commission could be held in Ankara to give effect to that natural aspiration. The Turkish Foreign Minister offered that the Turkish International Cooperation Agency have certain funds with which Turkey wishes to support development if Bangladesh wishes as such. The Foreign Adviser stated that there are several projects in Bangladesh and appropriate areas could be identified through consultations for funding by TICA. Both appreciated each other of recent political developments including the reform measures being undertaken in their respective countries.

Iftekhar appreciated Turkey's efforts to continue her linkages with traditional friends as she negotiates entry into the European Union.
