We know, Bangladesh is a poor as well as populous country in the world. Obviously poverty is a great problem in our country. Although she has become independent since long but she has yet to overcome her poverty. Bangladesh is an agricultural country indeed. Most of the people of our land are dependent on agriculture either directly or indirectly. But our agriculture sector has yet to improve hopefully for want of technological advancement in comparison with the developed countries. We have fertile land and favourable climate for agriculture.

Despite existing all favourable atmosphere we have failed to grow enough food as we need. Thats why we need to import food from foreign countries to meet our demand. And due to this reason the prices of consumable goods are increasing day by day affecting the mass people. So to speak, a lot of people of our country are now in great economic hardship. They cannot support themselves with the money they earn due to existing price hike.

As we are not in a position to adapt scientific method properly in our agriculture hence we cannot grow enough paddy, wheat, pulse, onion, sugarcane and other food stuff as per our requirement.

I think, over population is the root cause of shortage of food. Ours is a small country with huge population. Untill we would be able to solve our population problem successfully so long we would not be able to overcome our poverty. Mentionable that, we are constantly losing our cultivable land to a great extent especially in the rural areas. We are building the buildings to accommodate ourselves therein.

In my opinion, to turn over a new leaf we the people of Bangladesh should ensure the birth control policy strictly otherwise the development of the country would not be possible. It is known to us, most of the prosperous or developed countries have less people with much land. For example, Canada, America, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Sweeden etcetra. In fact according to land area our population is too high. If we could lessen our population growth like developed countries by a dapting birth control policy, then we could lead a better life indeed.
