The owners of the Voot Restaurant, one of the most famous aristocratic restaurants in the city, yesterday protested the unlawful use of its brand name and logo by two other restaurants.

They demanded immediate government action against those restaurants.

Abir A Azad, Managing Director of the restaurant in Dhanmondhi area at a press conference blamed some restaurant owners for their 'illegal attempts to defame' his business credibility by establishing two restaurants in the same name and logo.

He alleged these two restaurants are cheating the food-lovers as they served 'unhygienic and low quality' foods.

''Considering the lack of entertainment facilities in the capital city, we started the Voot Restaurant many years ago despite our limited capacity.

We do not serve our valued customers only food but also try to entertain our customers through our various entertainment activities'', Azad, chief of the Foods and Moods Ltd, the owning company of the Voot restaurant claimed.

Thus we became very popular among the food lovers of Dhaka city, he further said.

But recently some greedy businessmen established two restaurants 'misusing' our brand name and logo, which has hampered our credibility to the customers, he accused.

Moshiur Rahman Apo, Director of the restaurant, which is famous for its hygienic and quality Thai, Chinese and Indian food items said if such illegal copying continues, we may be forced to shut down our restaurant.

To encourage the young entrepreneurs of the country, the government should take legal measures against these type of dishonest traders.

Enamul Karim Nirjhar, an architect and filmmaker, who also works as an adviser to the Voot restaurant, urged all to launch movement against piracy in the different sector of the country.
