Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam visited Khulna Shipyard Ltd (KSY) and inaugurated KSY'S own Website www.ksybn.com on Thursday last.

Navy chief expressed his satisfaction of the activities of KSY and hoped that inauguration of new web site will provide KSY a unique identification in the international arena. He also inaugurated the foundation of new barrack house for sailors and crews of Khulna Shipyard. At the end of the programme Navy Chief planted a tender tree on KSY premises, says a ISPR Press Release.

It may be mentioned that, Khulna Shipyard was handed over to Bangladesh Navy due to its huge loss and bankruptcy in 1999. Today shipyard is exposed to the international arena as a profitable organisation. It has also paid the tax of Taka 23 crore to the government during 2006-2007 and reduced its dues. Presently, Khulna Shipyard is building new ships, pontoons, foot overbridge and large machineries for various industries and organisations.

Among others, Managing Director of KSY Commodore Riaz, Commodore Commanding Khulna Commodore Razib, high civil and military officials and local elites were present on the occasion.
