2 killed in Ctg road mishap

Chittagong, Mar 2: A baby taxi collided with truck in front of Chittagong University second gate left two passengers died and two others wounded Sunday afternoon. Parvez (32) and Badsha (20) died on the spot at 2pm. Parvez's wife Mishu Alter (22) and baby taxi driver Kalachand Sutra Dhar were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital with severe injuries, witnesses said. The killer truck managed to flee after the accident, reports UNB.

Shops gutted

Kishoreganj, Mar 2: Fire gutted six shops and a microbus at a market in Kotiadi uapzila here early Sunday. Fire Service sources said the fire originated from a tea stall at about 1.15 am and soon burned six adjoining shops and a microbus kept standing near the shops. On information, fire fighters from Kishoreganj town and Bajitpur upazila headquarters rushed to the spot and doused the fire after two hours of frantic efforts with the help of local people. Shop owners claimed that the extent of loss from the fire could go up to Tk 50 lakh, reports UNB.

Minor boy killed in road mishap

Chuadanga, Mar 2: A minor boy was crushed under the wheels of a power tiller at Darshana Akandbaria on Chuadanga-Jibannagar road Saturday noon. Witnesses said the sand laden power tiller ran over Tuhin, 5, son of Abdul Halim when he was playing beside the road. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape. A case was filed, reports UNB.

Firewood seized in Ctg

Chittagong, Mar 2: Officials of Forest Department in a drive recovered huge firewood in Paindang and Paschim Suabil areas of Fatikchhari upazila on Friday. Being tipped off, officials of Chittagong (North) Forest Department raided a number of brick-kilns in the area and recovered the firewood kept for burning violating the government ban, reports UNB.
