A total of 43 persons including a Ward Commissioner, two Pourashava officials and several dozens of listed contractors of Netrakona Purashava were captured here on Sunday night by police on charge of violating Emergency Power Act (EPR) through a secret negotiation meeting among them to take an unofficial decision over distribution of work orders to a section of tender-bidders avoiding other bidders of the 25 uplift projects of the Pourashava. Police and witnesses said, acting on a secret information about the secret negotiation meeting held at local DURBAR Gustee Club which about 50 yards south off from the Pourashava building, the two separate teams of Netrakona Model Thana Police and the detective branch police conducted a joint nocturnal drive at the club simultaneously and arrested them. Police also seized 353 tender documents and 13 motorcycles from the possession of the arrested persons. Meanwhile, the arrested persons were produced before the chief judicial magistrate court under the EPR act from were they were sent to the district Jail.
