The government yesterday finally nominated names of three distinguished persons and one organisation for Swadhinata Award-2008 for their glorious and outstanding contribution at the national level.

Bangladesh Rifles has been nominated for the award in recognition to its contribution to the independence and liberation war of the country, an official Handout said.

Martyred Dr Syed Muhammad Shamsuzzoha and Professor Dr Gobinda Chandra Dev (martyred intellectual Dr GC Dev) were nominated for their contribution to the independence and liberation war while Professor Rehman Sobhan has been nominated for his contribution to Research and Training, the Handout said.

Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed will give the award to the nominated persons/organisation at a function to be held at Osmani Memorial Hall in the city on March 25.
