At least 20 people were injured as an NGO office came under attack by angry mob at Majdia village in Sadar upazila Sunday.

Police said officials of the NGO, Jagorani Unnayan Sangstha, tried to flee away taking huge amount of money deposited with them by local subscribers.

As per direction of administration, the NGO authorities, however, started returning the subscribers' money since Sunday afternoon.

As the NGO authorities delayed disbursing money and deprived many others, local people turned violent and damaged and plundered the NGO office at about 8pm.

Twenty people, including union parishad chairman Tofazzal Hossain, were injured during the incident.

Later, police and RAB rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
