Roadside billboars in Rajshahi carry spelling mistakes in Bangla language Our Correspondent, Rajshahi A large number of sign boards, billboards, banners, name plates and graffiti at various Streets of Rajshahi, both belonged to state and the privately owned enterprises, carry spelling mistakes in Bangla language. According to a survey conducted by Transparency International Bangladesh(TIB) and Sacheton Nagorik Committee(SNC) with assistance from Youth Engagement and Support(YES), Rajshahi it was noticed, the use of spelling in Bangla language in public exhibited places in Rajshahi and detected a large number of spelling mistakes there. A TIB press release signed on Friday by Jasemine Akhter Panna, Assistant Programme Officer of Rajshahi Chapter of TIB informed, YES conducted survey on spelling mistakes on signs, banners, name plates, bill boards and graffiti on both sides of fourkilometre long street from Talaimari to C&B square and found 21 signs and bill boards belonged to government organisation which 13 spelling mistakes were noticed. There are 59 non-government owned signboards, billboards and name plates in which 12 spelling mistakes were noticed. Of the sign boards, there are 12 quotations carrying messages from the renowned poets, philosophers and personalities of which two were marked with spelling mistakes. The same road contains a total of 547 sign boards, banriers, bill boards, name plates and graffiti of which 455 belonged to privately owned business enterprises, petty shops and houses which contain 137 spelling mistakes. The YES team comprised of Iftia Wahab Taki, Shabnam Shamya, Sajjad Hossain, Partha Sarathi Mohanta, Zobayed Al Mamun Hasan, Arif Uzzaman Meem and Sabiha Sultana Sheta.
