Community policing to curb social crimes underscored

Speakers at a meeting here have said all sorts of social crimes could be eliminated through making the community-policing programme successful by united efforts of all stakeholders.

They said the importance of community policing and stressed the need for participatory initiative with a cooperative attitude of the police and the people to make the ongoing social movement successful.

They were speaking at a meeting of Community Policing on Dokropara Government Primary School ground that was organised by Sadar Thana Police on Friday.

Chaired by Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Thana Jamir Uddin, the meeting was addressed by Sadar Upazila UNO Tahmidul Islam as the chief guest.

ASP Emdadul Haque and Acting Pourasabha chairman of Panchagarh Abdul Kader were present as the special guests.

Members of the Sadar Upazila Unit of community policing, police officials, community leaders, professionals, journalists, elite, businessmen, social workers and members of the civil society took part in the meeting.

The speakers said mutual police-people cooperation and trusts would help in building a crime-free society and the ongoing community policing activities might play the most important role in this regard.

They also asked all to make the ongoing community policing activities successful through spontaneous and active participation of all to root out social crimes.
