Bangladesh lead medal table

Hosts Bangladesh established their overall supremacy on the first day of the four-day 2nd Indo-Bangladesh Bangla Games by securing 17 gold, 13 silver and 8 bronze medals at different venues in the city and adjoining areas on Saturday.

Visiting West Bengal athletes followed Bangladesh collecting 10 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Bangladesh are leading in all the three medal-deciding events -athletics, swimming and shooting-of the games that got off to a festive start Friday.

Hosts Bangladesh bagged five gold, four silver and three bronze medals in athletics while they collected seven gold, six silver and two bronzes in swimming and secured five gold, three silver and three bronze medals in swimming.

The West Bengal team of India collected three gold, four silver and three bronze medals in athletics, they bagged four gold, five silver and seven bronze in swimming while collected three gold, five silver and one bronze medals in shooting.
