Members of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in separate drives seized two kgs of heroin worth about Taka two crore and 500 bottles of Phensidyl from Sadar and Shibganj Upazilas of the district on Thursday night.

BDR sources said the BDR jawans of Polladanga border outpost (BOP) under 39 Rifle Battalion recovered the heroin while the drug was being smuggled out to India through Polladanga frontier under Sadar Upazila at around 8 PM.

The smugglers, however, managed to flee the scene, sensing the presence of BDR.

In another drive, the BDR members recovered 500 bottles of Phensidyl from Kansat area under Shibganj Upazila.
