Awami League Wednesday received invitation from the Election Commission for dialogue on February 25.

AL acting general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam receiving the invitation said a 10-member team will go to EC at 12 noon for the dialogue.

AL presidium member Tofael Ahmed told UNB that they were preparing for the second round of dialogue on political and electoral reforms.

EC has initiated the dialogue with political parties beginning February 24 keeping out both factions of BNP.

First round of talks between EC and political parties began September 12 and ended without BNP because of factional fued.

Successful holding of polls to bring stability in Pakistan: Iftekhar

Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury Thursday said successful holding of general elections in Pakistan would help ensure stability and prosperity in the country. "We congratulate Pakistan and the Pakistanis on the successful holding of the recent elections. We hope that this will usher in a new dawn of stability and prosperity in Pakistan," Foreign Affairs Advisor of Bangladesh caretaker government .Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said when asked to comment on the just concluded elections in Pakistan.

He felicitated those who have won for their victory, and also those who have lost for the spirit in which they have accepted the results. "We look forward to working closely with the new government when it is formed," Chowdhury said.
