The New Nation - Internet Edition

Thanks to Gen Moyeen, the Army Chief, for his expressed will to turn the country into a Middle Income Nation by 2020.

From the newspaper reports, it appears that the General has only underscored the political side of our problems and has not covered the other wider aspects of our national life. Maybe, Gen. Moyeen will detail out his actual plan of actions later (but immediately). There he will furnish a point-to-point programme through which he intends to achieve his goal. We only hope that the General's programme be more closer to the ground realities and must not suffer ftom the defects that are very much noticeable in the programme package designed or formulated by the so-called expert bureaucrats at the dictation of the politicians, who get pleasure in tall-talks or day dreams. However, we would request the General to encompass the following subjects in his action plans:

a. Give highest priority in containing the current rate (2.18%) of net population growth.

b. Ensure functional education to all first and impart vocational education as per national requirement.

c. Ensure food, health care and shelter for all.

d. Export as much workers abroad as it could be

e. Revitalise the industrial base, and

f. Reverberate the agri-sector in a balanced way aiming to attain self-sufficiency in food production.

We wish Gen Moyeen would surely act differently and prudently and shall not step into the shoes of bureaucracy-guided politicians.
