WASA introduces online billing system BSS, Dhaka LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser M Anwarul Iqbal yesterday formally inaugurated the online billing system of Dhaka WASA. "There is no alternative to getting standard service without paying the bill regularly," the adviser said while addressing the inaugural function at the WASA Bhaban. He said the government is committed to providing a appropriate and standard service for the people. The adviser called upon the concerned people to come forward to turn the WASA into a corruption-free, transparent, service- oriented and profitable organisation. He said revenue income of WASA would have increased significantly if they can reduce the system loss from the present rate of 35 percent. Iqbal said there are around 2.53 lakh customers of the WASA and it earned revenue of Taka 271 crore during the 2006-07 fiscal year and the amount was Taka 45 crore higher than that of the previous fiscal. The revenue target of WASA has been fixed at Taka 350 crore in the current fiscal, the adviser added. WASA Chairman Abdullah Harun Pasha and Managing Director Raihanul Abedin also spoke on the occasion.
