Joint-forces in separate drives arrested four businessmen with 51 sacks of adulterated fertiliser from Golapbag and Fasitala Bazar under Gobindagonj Upazila in the district on February 07.

Sources said on information a team of joint forces led by Captain Ahsan Ullah conducted a drive at the shop of Raju Agarwala at Golapbag bazaar of the upazila and seized 21 sacks of adulterated Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) and 13 sacks of Muriate of Potash Fertiliser.

Later, the team also recovered 17 sacks of adulterated organic fertiliser from the shops of Shahinoor, Abu Zafar Zinnah and Liton at Fashitala Bazar of the upazila.

4 shop owners were arrested by the joint forces on charge of selling adulterated fertiliser to the farmers.

UNO of Gobindagonj upazila Kabi Al-Asad, upazila agriculture officer Mir Abdur Razzak and local press club president Zahidur Rahim Tuku also accompanied the team.

It may be mentioned that a farmer bought two sacks of TSP from the shop of Raju Agarwala on Tuesday last. Later he returned it to the shop as it was adulterated. Being informed by the farmer, the joint forces took the action against the unscrupulous traders.
