A five-daylong recitation festival titled "Abrity Utshab-2008" held at Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus from February 4-7. 'Dhani', a recitation organisation of the University organised the function with the slogan "Ambor Sui Shabda Danay" to make its 8th founding ceremony remarkable.

JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Khanadaker Mustahidur Rahman inaugurated the function as chief guest while Prof Moniruzzaman was present as special guest.

On February 05 a drama "Putuler Bia" written by Kazi Nazrul Islam and directed by Khorshed Alam was staged and poems were recited by Asaduzzaman Nur and Ahkam Ullah. On February 06 drama "Bish Brikher Biz" written by Rudra Muhammad Shahidullah and directed by Shimul Saluddin was staged and Robi Shonkor Moytry recited poems. On February 07, poem recitation of eminent poet of the country held. A closing ceremony was also held on this day.
