A new body of newsmen styled 'Bangladesh Jour-nalists' Forum for Consumers and Investors (BJFCI)' was launched yesterday in the city with a view to establishing the rights of consumers and protecting the interest of small investors of the country.

According to a press release, the BJFCI, a non-profit organisation, was formed at a meeting of journalists of the leading dailies, news agencies and electronic media at the Jatiya Press Club.

The meeting unanimously constituted a 15-member convening committee headed by senior reporter of BSS Faruk Ahmed.

Other members of the committee are Ashraf Khan (Shamokal), Kaykobad Milon (Ittefaq), Ali Sanwar (The Bangladesh Observer), Abul Khair (Ittefaq), Md Enamul Haque (BSS), Belayet Hossain (Dinkal), Shafiqul Alam Raton (The News Today), Shamim Siddique (Inqilab), Anisur Rahman (The Financial Express), Monjur Mahmood (NTV), Md Ejaj Hossain (Ittefaq), Rozina Islam (Sangbad), Shamim Zahedi (The Daily Star) and Md Jahangir Alam (BID).
