Muktijoddha beat Badda Jagarani UNB, Dhaka Muktijoddha Sangsad KC took lead in Group B of the Protiti Pharma Victory Day Club Cup Football Tournament beating giant killer Badda Jagarani Sangsad by 2-1 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday. Veteran striker Alfaz Ahmed and national defender Hasan Al Mamun scored for the freedom fighters team Muktijoddha during the first half while Rana netted the lone goal for Badda Jagarani in the dying moment. With the day's win, Muktijoddha secured four points from two matches to dominate the group after making a goalless draw with first division side Dhaka Wanderers Club. Despite the day's defeat, Badda Jagarani, also the first division club, keeps their semifinal hope alive with three points from two matches, beating B league champions Dhaka Abahani in the opener. Muktijoddha SKC will play tough Abahani Limited at 5:pm while Badda Jagarani meet weaker Dhaka Wanderers Club at 3:pm on Monday in the remaining Group B matches. In the day's match, Alfaz Ahmed opened the Muktijoddha account in the 28th minute by a well-judged shot from top of the D box off Parvez Babu pass (1-0). National captain Hasan Al Mamun sounded the Muktijodda margin just two minutes later by a rebound shot when an earlier attempt of medio Arman Miah came his way defecting one of the opponent defender (2-0). Rana of reduced arrears for Badda Jagarani in the injury time by a header inside from the box utilizing a cross of Milan (2-1).
