Iraq, all dreams shattered
Everytime I think of Iraq, I feel deep sorrow and outrage by the happenings in the historical country, which was called as the seat of civilization. This land has been ruined utterly and violence is erupting everyday with the country on the verge of a civil war.
From my childhood days, I was fascinated by Iraq. I used to read about Baghdad, Basra and other cities, prosperous and bustling with activities. I learned about Khalifa Harun-ur-Rashid roaming the streets in disguise at night to see how everything is going and ensuring that all is well.
I read the book 'Thousand nights and one night' which contains numerous stories in which many cities of Iraq are mentioned. 'Sindbad the Sailor', 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves' and other stories are really very interesting.
The childhood dream has turned into a nightmare. My heart bleeds when I think about the people of Iraq and I wonder what is in store for them in future. May Allah Almighty save them from destructions.

Afridi comes back
All rounder Shahid Afridi staged a great comeback in the international cricket propelling Pakistan to victories against Zimbabwe in the second and third One Day Internationals. He was not able to play well last two years. Critics even feared his total elimination. He could neither make runs nor take wickets. Thousands of audiences who used to become thrilled at his hurricane hitting were frustrated and hoped his courageous comeback. And he did that. We read in the newspaper that he equalled Joyasurriya's record of 245 sixes in ODI. In truth, he is far ahead of the Sri Lankan batsman because he played much less matches and has a clear opportunity to surge ahead by a far distance.
However, as to the future of Pakistan's cricket, it will take time to recover the lost glory. The dilemma over selection of coach and captain must end in the greater interest of the game. The PCB must be strong in taking decision and must not be flexible. Flexible in some cases bring disastrous.
