Kulaura border in Moulvibazar and haor areas in of Kulaura have been put on high alert to check entry of poultry from India, said Nazrul Islam, officer of Livestock Department Moulvibazar.

"We have taken this step with effect from Thursday (January 18) in view of outbreak of bird flu in some districts in country he said.

Nazrul said precautionary measures had been taken along the Indo-Bangladesh border at Moulvibazar where several teams are working in cooperation with law enforcers to check entry of chicks from India.

The surveillance teams are submitting daily reports on their findings. The teams are visiting poultry farms in these two border areas off and on to detect cases of bird flu.
