Smugglers snatch timber vehicle from BDR in Juri Our Correspondent, Moulvibazar A gang of smugglers on Monday snatched a pick-up van loaded with timber from BDR at Dakshinbhag Bazar on Kulaura-Baralekha road in Juri upazila under Moulvibazar. The smugglers also allegedly manhandled two BDR personnel who tried to intercept the vehicle. According to witnesses and Juri BDR sources, the vehicle was going to Baralekha Upzila from Kulaura Upzila. Tipped-off, two BDR personnel from Juri company headquarters reached Dakshinbhag Bazar in a motor-bike to apprehend the pick-up van. Traders Jesul and Siraj Uddin at Dakshinbhag Bazar told this correspondent that when the two BDR men came to the spot, about 200 people cordoned them off and beat them up. The smugglers escaped with the vehicle. Lt. Col. Lutfur Rahman, commander of 38 BDR Battalion said, he was informed of the incident.
