Media partly responsible for price hike

From the practical experience, it seems that the television channels are playing a role in the present price spiral. Everyday the country's private TV channels telecast reports on the market prices, among others, and it has been observed that the reporters deliberately quote manufactured price than the actual one. For example, a TV reporter on Monday quoted taka 18 for one kilo of potato instead of actual price of taka 15 per kilo. As a result, those who were selling at taka 15 in a city market raised the price at once to increase the miseries of the consumers.

We suggest that utmost care should be taken to prepare a report on any matter. All the reports should be double checked before giving on the air or giving to the press for printing. There is no need of giving such report that causes hardship to the people.

Bishwa Ijtema-a global meet

The three days Bishwa Ijtema started at Tongi, 19 kilometers north of the capital city. Nearly two million Muslims from all over the world have assembled there with the objective of purifying their souls and improving goodly behaviour towards people.

They listen to what is lectured by the Islamic scholars of the world associated with the World Tablig. Jamaat (BTJ). On the concluding day the organisers will constitute groups of different numbers and will dispatch them to the countries of the world for calling the non-Muslims to return to Islam

Allah says, "Call unto the way of thy Lord with wisdom and goodly advice and debate with them in the best manner,"-16/125.

The members of BTJ have another mission. They ask the Muslims, who do not offer regular prayers, to go to Mosques five times a day and to do the good works and to refrain from evils.

Allah says, "And there may spring a people who invite to goodness, and enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency,"-3/104.

If any one of the Tablig Jamaat or any Muslim whoever he or she is does not perform the above two noble jobs, deviate from the way of Allah. Islam commands a Muslim to establish a bridge between the faith and the deeds.

Mere belief is not sufficient for one to reach nearer to Allah. It has to be backed by the actual observance of the 'do's and 'do not's as ordained by Allah. The Bishwa Tablig Jamaat, purely a religious organisation, gives the Muslims that lessons.

The Tablig Jamaat unexpectedly ended on the very opening day due to inclement weather through a mass prayer.
