Bangladesh Red Crecent Society (BRCS), district unit, has taken up a plan to distribute blankets among the poor, distressed and river-erosion affected people in the district in order to save them from cold wave.

Sources said, a total number of 1500 blankets would be distributed among the cold-hit victims in the district under this programme.

An inaugural function was held at Al-Forkan Kinder Garden (AFKG) under Boali Union of Sadar Upazila in the district on Saturday with Faruqul Islam, Secretary of BRCS district unit in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner Quazi Md. Anworul Hakim addressed the function and formally distributed the blankets among the cold victims of the union as chief guest. The function was also addressed, among others, by social workers Sadrul Kabir Angur, Shaik Samad Azad and Mohfizul Islam, Principal of AFKG.

As many as 300 blankets were distributed among the cold-hit victims of the union in this function.
