Maxcom athletics competition begins: Sumita Rani set national record in hurdles UNB, Dhaka The First Maxcom Athletics Competition, organised by Bangladesh Athletics Federation, began at the Banani Army Stadium on Saturday with one national record set on the first day. Sumita Rani Das created the new national record in the 100-meter hurdles clocking 14:00 seconds to better the previous mark of 14:28 seconds. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president and Chief of General Staff of Bangladesh Army Maj Gen Sina Ibn Jamali formally inaugurated the two-day competition in the morning as chief guest. Mohammad Shamsuddin of Bangladesh Air Force emerged as the fastest man while Nazmun Nahar Beauty of BJMC the fastest woman clinching the 100-meter sprint titles. After the first day, Bangladesh Army dominates the meet with five gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals. Bangladesh Ansar follows with five gold, three silver and two bronzes, BKSP won three gold and three silver while Bangladesh Air Force bagged three gold, one silver and one bronze medal.
