Economy stable in country: Aziz

Finance Adviser Mirza Azizul Islam yesterday denied prevailing of any economic instability in the country.

"I do not agree with them," he said when his attention was drawn to the views of some economists that the country's economic condition is deplorable.

Talking to reporters after the meeting of cabinet purchase committee Aziz, however, admitted stiff rise in inflation. He said he is not sure of achieving last year's GDP growth of 6.5 per cent.

Economic indicators - industrial term loan, credit flow in agriculture sector and import of industrial goods - have increased in the recent months, he added.

He also admitted export earning during July-September period was not satisfactory.
