Dr Wazed Miah, a renowned nuclear physicist and husband of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, was admitted to LabAid Cardiac Hospital yesterday (Sunday) with breathing problems and chest pain.

“He fell sick at noon and was rushed to the hospital,” family sources said.

Dr Wazed is undergoing treatment at the Coronary Care Unit-2 of the hospital under the supervision of Prof APN Sohrabuzzaman..

Sheikh Hasina’s special assistant Dr Hasan Mahmud said Dr Wazed Miah mentally broke down hearing the news of charge framing by the court of District and Session Judge Azizul Huq against his wife Sheikh Hasina in the Tk 3 crore extortion case filed by businessman Azam J Chowdhury with the city’s Tejgaon Police Station. At that time, he started feeling breathing problems. As his condition deteriorated, he was rushed to the Lab Aid Hospital, where he is now undergoing treatment under the supervision of cardiologist Prof APM Sohrabuzzaman.
