Labour Minister of Qatar Dr Sultan Bin Hasan Al Dhabit Al Dosari arrived in the city yesterday afternoon to sign a protocol to facilitate export of manpower from Bangladesh to Qatar.

Adviser for foreign affairs and overseas employment and expatriate welfare Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury was at the Zia International Airport to receive Al Dosari.

"I am very happy at the visit of the labour minister of Qatar.

We are going to sign a protocol with Qatar tomorrow," said Dr Iftekhar Chowdhury while talking to newsmen at the airport.

He said the proposed protocol would protect the interest of the Bangladeshi workers in Qatar and facilitate more manpower export from Bangladesh to Qatar.

Chowdhury said the visit would further strengthen existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Qatar.

He said the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and the former foreign minister and the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem bin Jabr Al-Thani were invited to visit Bangladesh in the past.

Expatriate welfare secretary Abdul Matin Chowdhury, ambassador of Qatar to Bangladesh Ibrahim Mohammad Al Abdullah and director general of West Asia Khandakar Abdus Sattar were present at the airport.
