Three people were wounded by bullet as gangsters shot a mineral water supplier and then made a desperate exit firing from a car through the busy Siddeswari area of the capital on Wednesday.

Witnesses and police said ¾ armed hoodlums drove into the spot in a white private car and sprayed bullets on mineral water supplier Belal Hossain, 30, while he was reading newspaper on a street at Shantinagar Post Office Gali at about 3:00 pm.

Bullets hit him in his right leg and left hand in the daylight attack reportedly by extortionists having failed to realize toll.

"Hearing Belal's screams, pedestrians chased the private car. But the terrorists fled the scene driving off the getaway car through Siddeshari road," says a spot account of the shootout. They opened random fire to create safe passage that left Abul Kashem, a rickshaw-puller, and Rashidul Islam, 31, a Security guard, injured.
