A defamation case was filed against Jamaat-e-Islami's assistant secretary general Abdul Quader Mollah with a court in Brahmanbaria town yesterday for making indecent remarks against freedom fighters.

Sarail Upazila Awami League president and freedom fighter Abdul Halim filed the case with the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Tariqul Islam yesterday afternoon.

In his case, the plaintiff alleged that Abdul Quader Mollah who did not believe in the spirit of country's War of Liberation and was involved in hatching conspiracy against the country's independence made abusive remarks targeting the freedom fighters. The remarks of Quader Mollah have recently been published in several national newspapers including the Prothom Alo. These newspapers published reports quoting Quader Mollah as saying that "the freedom fighters took part in the War of Liberation in 1971 for enjoying beautiful women, looting the property of Hindus and protecting the interest of India."

"Quader Mollah's indecent remarks hurt the feelings of thousands of freedom fighters of the country, including me," the plaintiff mentioned.

Accepting the case, Judge Tariqul Islam issued summons against Quader Mollah to appear in court in person by March 3 next.

Mollah passed the abusive words against freedom fighters during a

discussion meeting on October 31.
