A young man was slaughtered by unidentified assailants when he was asleep at his home at Purba Hinguli village under Mirsarai upazila in the district midnight on Tuesday.

Family members found the body of the victim, Mohammad Faruk, 27, son of Nurul Alam of the village, nearby their house, police and local sources said.

Being informed, the police rushed to the spot and brought the body for autopsy.

Neither police nor family members could confirm the motive behind the killing.

A case was filed with Mirsarai police.
