Convicted JMB leader held in Joypurhat BSS, Rangpur Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three criminals including an Assistant Regional Commander of outlawed Jama'atul Mujahedin Bangladesh (JMB), who is an absconding life-term convict, from different places in Joypurhat and Naogaon districts during the past 24 hours till Monday afternoon. The RAB also seized huge quantities of scarp bronze metals worth Taka four lakh while smuggling those out to the neighbouring country during the period, RAB sources said. The sources said a special RAB team led by captain Zakir from Joypurhat camp conducted a sudden raid at Central Bus terminal in Joypurhat town and arrested top JMB leader Mansur Rahman, 25, of village Polikadoa in Sadar upazila of Joypurhat this morning. Arrested Mansur was the Assistant Regional Commander of top JMB leader Montezar Rahman of village Uttar Moheshpur in Joypurhat and he was earlier sentenced to life term rigorous imprisonment by a Special tribunal Court of Rajshahi on charges of his involvement with the August 17 series bomb blats. Another RAB team arrested two notorious smugglers Dighendranath, 50 of Kalitola area and Abdus Sattar, 42 of Sultanpur area in Naogaon town from Bhanga Dighee frontier village in Dhamoirhat upazila of Naogaon and seized 805 kg scrap bronze from their possessions while smuggling those out to India Sunday afternoon. After filing separate cases in these connections, the RAB handed over the arrested criminals to the concerned police stations Monday afternoon, the sources said.
