Rupali Bank manager killed in Manikganj, Tk 15 lakh looted

Armed terrorists snatched away Tk 15 lakh in broad-daylight killing a bank manager in Singair upazila of Manikganj district yesterday.

Police and witnesses said Moniruzzaman Khan Tulu, 50, manager of Bayera branch of Rupali Bank, was going to his bank in Singair upazila on board a rented motorcycle after drawing Tk 15 lakh from Manikganj branch of Sonali Bank at about 10:30am.

Witnesses said four armed terrorists intercepted Moniruzzaman when he reached Geradia bus stand in Singair and tried to snatch his bag containing the money.

As Moniruzzaman resisted, the terrorists fired on him from point blank-range and fled with the bag. Receiving bullet injuries, he fell down on the road and started bleeding profusely, police said.

Critically injured Moniruzzaman was first taken to the local upazila health complex. From there, he was shifted to the sadar hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police arrested the driver of the motorcycle on rent Biltu in this connection. A case was filed.
