ADB gives $3.1m to Bangladesh for ICT development

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said it is providing US$ 21.2 million for the development of information and communication technology in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal to enhance the availability of affordable broadband Internet connections, skilled manpower, local content and internet applications.

The South Asia sub-regional Economic Cooperation Information Highway Project is estimated to cost US$24 million, which will establish a South Asia Sub-regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) regional network with fiber-optic and data interchange capacity directly connecting the four member-countries.
