Members of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) in a pre-dawn raid on Monday seized a huge quantity of readymade garments worth about Taka 5 lakh from Baghachra Bazar of the district. Acting on a tip-off, a BDR patrol team, led by Major Kamrul Hassan, operation officer of BDR 41 battalion, conducted the raid on the Bazar and recovered 14 bundles of readymade garments.

The smugglers, however, fled the scene sensing the BDR presence.

The seized garments, which include shirts, pants, trousers, were deposited to Satkhira customs authorities.
