A cadre of an outlawed party was slaughtered by unidentified extremists at Dhaharjani village under Sathia upzila of the district on Wednesday night.

Police and hospital sources said being informed a team of police recovered the body this afternoon from a field in the same village and sent it to Pabna General Hospital for postmortem.

Officer in charge of Sathia thana Mahbubur Rahman told BSS that 10 to 12 armed extremists called the cadre Abdul Malek out of his father-in-law's house late on Wednesday night.

The extremists indiscriminately chopped and slaughtered Malek in a nearby field and then left the spot leaving behind the body.

Abdul Malek, son of Tajal Mondal of Faridpur upazila, has been living at his father-in-law's house since the marriage.

Police suspect that he might have been killed over an intra- party feud. A case was filed with Sathia thana in this connection.
