Police, in anti-crime drives, rounded up 44 alleged criminals including a drug-peddler from different areas in city and nine upazilas of the district in last 24 hours till Thursday evening, police sources said.

Of the arrested, 18, including the drug-peddler, were rounded up from different areas in the metropolis while 26 others from nine upazilas of the district.

Police rounded up the drug-trader identified as Rafiqul Islam, 30, son of Nurul Islam with 10 bottles of phensidyl and 800 grams of ganja from Haragram under Rajpara thana in the city.

Traffic police lodged 32 cases under motor vehicles ordinance during drives against the non-registered motor vehicles and other document-related malpractices in different parts of the city during the time.
