Less interest from key buyers resulted price fall in weekly tea sale

The weekly tea sale held here on Tuesday marked with a less demand from mostly all segments of the market resulted in price declining.
According to the market sources, blenders, Pakistani buyers lent a fair support while CIS buyers shown interests for only selected categories.
Among the local buyers, only blenders lent a fairly good support absorbing a portion of the huge offerings.
The details of the market reports are as follows:
CTC Leaf: 30,408 packages and 288 packages of old season were on offer met with less demand and sold at easier rates.
Brokens: All brokens met with a fairly good market but were easier by Taka two to Taka three.
The best could be quoted between Taka 85 and Taka 88. Plainer types similarly eased but there was a fair withdrawals. Fannings: Good liquoring fannings met with quite a good demand but were generally easier by Taka two to Taka three and realized prices between Taka 86 and Taka 89.
The remainder eased further often by upto Taka four. CTC Dust: 4,315 packages and 104 packages of old season on offer met with a less demand at mostly easier rates.
Select few lines of well-made good liquoring types were about firm while all others eased by Taka two to Taka three and sometime more following quality. CDs, except for few best lines, were a lower market easing by Taka 10 and more.
452 schools of Bagerhat to be built & repaired

The district administration has stepped up efforts to reconstruct and repair the completely damaged and partially-damaged primary schools in the district.
A total of 452 primary schools out of 1,117 were destroyed by the recent cyclone. The loss was estimated at over Taka 11.46 crore.
The damaged schools had 1.98 lakh children and 4,481 teachers. One teacher and 72 students were killed by the cyclone.
Education officer Pran Govinda Nandi said the schools will be built and repaired under the supervision of the school managing committees.
2 female smugglers held, huge smuggled goods seized
BSS, Rajshahi
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5, in anticrime drives, arrested two female smugglers and seized a huge quantity of smuggled goods from different areas in Rajshahi and Joypurhat districts recenlty.
Acting on tips-off, the elite force rounded up the smugglers identified as Fatema Begum, 38, and Chuni alias Baby, 40, with a huge quantity of smuggled goods, including warm clothes and ladies dresses, during separate raids on different places in Joypurhat.
In two other separate drives in Panchbibi Livestock Hospital area in Joypurhat and at Borokuthipara area in Rajshahi city, the elite force seized three liters of phensidyl and a local weapon. However, none could be arrested in these connections.
Blust to give legal aid to women

Bangladesh legal aid and services Trust (BLUST) district unit organised an advocacy on women and child repression act at local Bar Association auditorium recently.
Presided over by Advocate Bikash Chandra Roy the judge of women and child repression prevention tribunal court Narendra Chandra Das was present as the chief guest while former President of district Bar Association Advocate Khalequzzaman was the special guest.
Coordinator of BLUST district unit A.H. Habib Khan delivered the address of welcome.
The advocacy meeting was addressed ,among others, by public prosecutor (PP) Advocate Bishna Nath Paul, Special Public Prosecutor Advocate Tariqul islam.
The participants discussed various aspects of women and child repression act. They gave some suggestions on the act which will give proper justice to the litigants.
They stressed the need for making awareness about the existing laws and its proper use. They emphasized the need for proper investigation of the cases. A total of 30, lawers, police officer, govt officers, law experts took part in the advocacy meeting.
Birth registration campaign launched in KCC

Khulna City Corporation (KCC) launched a campaign on Tuesday for birth registration of school going students in the metropolitan area.
KCC sources said, in the first phase of the program, registration forms, certificates and registration books were sent to 31 wards of the city to register the names of the students of class ten.
A 57-member committee was formed with chief executive officer of KCC Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman as convenor and chief medical officer Dr. ABM Mahbubul Haque as member secretary to make the registration campaign a success.
Three hundred headmasters and headmistress, 248 volunteers, 31 supervisors, 31 wards secretaries and 31 ward assistants were provided training to implement the birth registration programme.
Seeds, fertilisers distributed among Brahmanbaria farmers

Department of Agriculture Extension distributed paddy seeds and fertilizer among 95 farmers of Chatalpara union under its post-flood agriculture rehabilitation program recently.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Shawkat Ali distributed seeds and fertilizers among the farmers as chief guest. Assistant Commissioner (land) Abdul Hai, local UP chairman Alamgir Hossain, Upazila Krishi Officer Monir Hossain, journalists Jatindra Mohan Chowdhury and Akhtar Hossain Bhuiyan were present on the occasion.
