Dr. Kamal Hossain’s accountability How could Dr. Kamal Hossain ask the present Caretaker Government (CG) to put the 'War Criminals' of 1971 for trial now? The question should come to everybody's mind whoever heard him speaking on the 1st December in a function in the Press Club (Dhaka) in the matter. Dr. Kamal is not only a renowned lawyer well conversant with legal issues not lately but he was so in early 1970s when he hold the portfolio of Law Minister of independent Bangladesh and soon after when the alleged 'War crimes' took place. How should he ask the CG to do what he did not do when everything was favorable for the trial rightly or wrongly in the height of passions against them in the country? If one may recall, one would further discover that he had to his credit many black laws enacted such as the Collaborators Act of 1972, the Special Powers Act of 1974, the Lone party BAKSAL Act of early 1975, and yet forgetting to put the 'war criminals' to trial! Why? Should he not be made accountable for these evils, if not indicted in the court? M.T. Hussain 795/2 Ibrahimpur Dhaka
