Police arrested three women with huge quantity of smuggled goods from a passenger bus in Bugachra area on Jessore-Satkhira Highway of the district on Friday.

Police said the arrested women are Salma Khatun, 26, daughter of late Sobed Ali of Choughoria village Amena Begum, 40 wife of late Abdus Sattar of Roghunathpur village and Rahima Begum, 40, wife of late Babul of Gopinathpur village under Satkhira district.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team halted the bus and searched it. They recovered the smuggled goods from their possession and arrested them.

A case was filed with Sharsha Police Station in this connection.
