A female prisoner died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Sunday afternoon. The prisoner was identified as Saju Akhter (40). Police said that she had been suffering from various complicated diseases for the last eight months.

She fell sick in the noon and jail authority sent her to CMCH at about 5:00 p.m. where attending physicians declared her dead. She was held in connection with a drug smuggling case which is now under trial. Body of the woman was handed over to her family members after autopsy.

An unnatural death case was filed with Kotwali police station.
