Standard Chartered Bank has taken initiative to invite applications for corporate social responsibility award 2007. The announcement came following a meeting of board of trustees of the award. Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud, Chairman of the trust said, "I am pleased to see the CSR award programme successfully stepping into its 3rd year". 'This year, the trust will start soliciting nominations in November with a plan for holding the award-giving function in February 2008."

Standard Chartered Bank and The Financial Express jointly sponsored the award in 2005 for recognising the outstanding contributions of companies in the field of corporate social responsibility, as reflected in the standard of business practice and not-for-profit social welfare initiatives. The winners of the award were Dhaka Bank and Unilever Bangladesh Limited in 2005, and Aktel and Kumudini Trust in 2006.
