Political unity: A prime need The loving Bangladesh has been passing critical times since its birth. It tries to up its head, but cannot. It tries to be independent truly, but failed. It tries to move forward, but come back after some movements like the monkey that was trying to reach the top of the slippery bamboo but could not reach finally. It tries to make a peaceful, safe and comfortable living place for the nation but finally its initiatives become unsuccessful. The history of Malaysia , Singapore , Thailand and other model developed countries (which were inferior to Bangladesh once upon a time) in changing their position is not unknown to us. They could change their condition within very shortest possible time say 20-25 years. We have lots of natural and human resources in our country. We cannot use those resources properly. We have either no plans or no initiatives to use those resources. The leaders are responsible mostly for this. They have never been united. They have never acknowledged the works of others. They have never appreciated the tasks of other groups. The precondition to move forward towards a destination is unity. The claims for banning the democratic groups from the politics who are loyal to the laws of the state and who can play a minor but significant roles for the country is a common phenomenon in Bangladesh. The issue of war criminals and religion based political party is very common in our country. It seems to be intentional. But what I believe, for sustainable, effective and successful development programmes for the country in greater aspects, it needs an inseparable unity free from religious, communal, political, ideological fractions. This unity can be formed by taking an impartial, sincere and patriotic initiative by the state leaders. To do that their attitudes, speeches, movements, actions and other efforts should be in favour of that motive. No organ or part of the state leadership can do anything that goes beyond the unity. We need motivators. We need negotiators. I believe and demand you will do that. You will organise the vessel of the voyage towards development. You will have to work like qualified guardians for your sons and daughters, qualified sons and daughters for your parents, and qualified neighbour for your societies and relatives. You must work with all without any partiality and negative aggressiveness. Drive your car to the destination by carrying all passengers though the street is very dangerous. Don't put any passenger left or don't throw anyone outside the car. Give guideline for all, seek cooperation from all and handle the situation with care. Good Luck.
