Police arrested 17 persons, including suspected criminals, from different places in the district during the last 24 hours till Thursday noon, police sources said.

The arrested persons included absconding warrantees, accused in different cases, drug-peddlers and traffickers, anti-social elements and thieves.

Police also seized a good quantity of smuggled ganja, 300 litres of fermented wine, Phensidyl, stolen goods and other illegal items during the raids.

Of the arrested, Kotwali police rounded up six persons, Gangachara police one, Taraganj police one, Badarganj police one, Mithapukur police four, Pirganj police one, Pirgachha police one and Kawnia police arrested two persons during the drives.

The arrested persons were sent to jail hajat when police produced them before the concerned Rangpur courts today, the sources said.
